Why is Restorative Yoga an advanced practice?

Restorative yoga is often called the "most advanced practice" of yoga because it requires a high level of awareness, patience, and self-compassion. In a world that often values achievement and productivity, restorative yoga challenges us to slow down, listen to our bodies, and be present at the moment.

Unlike more vigorous forms of yoga, which often focus on building strength, flexibility, and stamina, restorative yoga is about letting go and surrendering to the present moment. It involves holding gentle, supported poses for an extended period, which can be challenging as it requires us to be still and present with our discomfort or resistance.

Restorative yoga is also advanced because it encourages us to cultivate a deep sense of self-awareness and self-compassion. It teaches us to be gentle with ourselves, to listen to our bodies, and to honor our limits. In doing so, we can learn to let go of the need to push ourselves beyond our limits or compare ourselves to others and cultivate a sense of inner peace and acceptance.

Restorative yoga is advanced because it challenges us to let go of our ego and embrace our vulnerability. It invites us to be still and present with ourselves, to let go of our fears and anxieties, and to open ourselves up to a more profound sense of connection with ourselves and the world around us.
